At the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology (PBF) at Zagreb University, Dane Bicanic, Visiting Professor from Wageningen University, Wageningen, The Netherlands teaches regularly within the frame of undergraduate curriculum. The lectures, presented within the courses such as “General and Anorganic Chemistry”, “Measurement and Control of Processes”, “Science of Nutrition II”, Quality Control of Foods” are offered for freshmen, sophomore junior and senior students majoring in Food Technology, Nutricionism and Biotechnology. The lectures focus mainly on the principles of novel photoacoustic, photothermal and related methodologies and instrumentation and their applications for rapid, sensitive and specific analysis of foods. Prof. Bicanic also acts as the in-officio supervisor of undergraduate students in preparing the diploma work during the final year of their studies. In addition, Prof. Bicanic makes a continuous and strong effort in trying to establish the laboratory for the photothermal research here in Zagreb the objective of which is to enable practical training for students from the local university.
